Early in 2021 I was delighted to be asked by Simon Heartfield to record a session for his excellent Secret Self show on Seance radio (www.mixcloud.com/Simon_Heartfield).
The resulting set was broadcast in April 2021.

At the time I viewed this material as a possible set of demos for future projects and live performances. This has certainly been the case for the latter - my live set is currently very much in line with the sound & format presented here.
I have gradually moved over to a modular synth setup over the last year and increasingly base my music on repeated phrases and subtle shifts in dynamics, rather than using an underlying drone as the foundation.

It became clear that I was not going to revisit or rework this music for any upcoming album and so, being that I really like it, I have decided to release it in its own right.
There are some slight amendments to the set that was originally broadcast with the addition of effects and textures in certain places. I think this was necessary to make the music stand up to repeated listens.

The music has been heavily influenced by the Irish musician Michael O'Shea, particularly his piece "No Journeys End", but also by the overall production and sound of his eponymous album (from 1982).

Since this music was mixed and produced on headphones I think that this is the best listening method.
